Itinerary for the 7 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Gorilla trekking safari in Bwindi
Day 1; pick from the capital of Tanzania.
You safari vans, are to pick you from Dar-es Salaam then drive you to Serengeti national park. The drive will take approximately 9-10 hours therefore you are most likely to arrive at the gates of the park, in the late evening. Arrive at your safari lodge and then enjoy a heavy meal at the restaurant prepared by the best chefs.
As you delight in the evening meal, take time and appreciate the night serene natural environment as you listen to the echoic sound of the roars of the lions, the wavering cries of the owls and the croaking of the frogs. Later, go back to your room and relieve your body from tiredness by laying in your comfy bed.
Day 2; witnessing the wildebeest river crossing in Serengeti.
At 7; 45 am in the morning after breakfast, join your safari guide in the safari vans and embark on your first ultimate game drive experience. The wild savannah starts to get active as bird are depart from their nests, the elephants move in herds, some in the grazing areas others just moving across the safari vehicles with their young ones. You will then head to the Grumeti River in Serengeti where you will witness the river crossings of the wildebeest’s crossings through the muddy waters of the Grumeti River to the lush green grasslands. You can use binoculars to get a magnified view of the crossings and the leopard chasing the calves of the wildebeests as you enjoy snack and old beverages.
Later you will have a bush lunch in the golden plains of Serengeti and then continue with the game drives through the park where you will witness the big cats (lions and leopards) sunbathing at the Kopjes and the African buffalo just roaming through the landscape. In the evening, after having a meal at the diner head back to your room for rest.
Day 3; visit the Maasai community.
At 8; 30 am, you will transfer to the lounge of your safari lodge and then proceed to a day break game drive through the park and get to observe the behavior of more wild animals like the giraffes, zebras , and many more. Later visit the Maasai huts (Manyattas) where you will be warmly embraced by the Maasai people and then they will start by showing you their traditional dances and songs and thereafter they will show you through their community land and huts with traditional gated fences.
In the midafternoon, you will join other tourists on a traditional prepared meal with fruits on the side and then after the meal you will learn some of the practices of the Maasai people and more about their culture from their elders. Show appreciation for their good treatment by supporting their handmade art crafts that are very affordable, then in the evening after full gratification of the Maasai culture you will head back to your safari lodge where you will have a rest after having a meal.
Day 4; full day game drive at Serengeti.
At sunrise have a warm cup of coffee with a sandwich then your safari guide will brief you about the day’s experiences and activities for the whole day. Since the whole day will be for game drives through the park, here are some of the experiences you are likely to encounter through the day.
- Lions and leopards stalking their prey in the golden grasslands.
- Herds of elephants and prides of lions moving up and about in Serengeti and socializing.
- You might see some of the rare animals in Serengeti such as the Civet cats, African Wild dog and mantled guereza.
- Encounter of more of the wildebeest troops moving to the Grumeti and Mara River.
- You will also do some bird watching where you will spot some bird species like the lappet-faced vulture in the acacia trees.
You will have lunch at the Boma restaurant in Serengeti where you will be greeted with herds of elephants in the compound and in the evening you will have dinner at the safari loge restaurant and head back to your room.
Day 5; from Serengeti to Ngorongoro.
At dawn, you will have your last morning meal at your safari lodge restaurant before you check out of your safari lodge. Then later your things will be carried the safari vans by the lodge staff and then you will drive to Ngorongoro. It will take you 4-5 hours to arrive at the Ngorongoro conservation area, the journey is quite bumpy because of the rugged roads hence there shall be food stop overs and breaks in between the journey.
Arrive at Ngorongoro and then you will be driven through the park to one of the restaurants in Ngorongoro where you are to enjoy a mid-day break meal. Later, embark on your journey through the conservation area and you will spot some wild animals like monkeys on the side pathways and groups of zebras roaming around. Reach the caldera and take in the dramatic view of the pink flamingos beautifully aligned partly at the caldera and you will also watch other bird species like the pied kingfisher at the shorelines. Later, you will head to your safari lodge at Ngorongoro and check in and thereafter you will enjoy a campfire meal.
Day 6; from Tanzania to Uganda.
In the early hours of the day at around 5; 00am you will check out of your safari lodge and then you will start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Park in Uganda. The journey is about 18-20 hours according to the route used however you will get more opportunities of scenic views on the way and you will also view the busy towns at the boarder of Tanzania and Uganda. You are to spend the night in Kabale district at a hotel where you will have a meal since it is a long journey.
Day 7; from Kabale to Bwindi Impenetrable park.
Arise at 8; 00 am and after breakfast you will continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Park and it will take you 2-3 hours to reach the Park. Reach the Bwindi Park and then you will be briefed of how to conduct yourself when you encounter the gorillas and you will also get to learn more historical facts about the gorillas, the culture of the Batwa pepe and the park.
Begin your gorilla tracking down journey through the verdant land of the park then you will traverse through the tropical rainforests as our guides feed you more information and facts about the gorillas’ social behaviors. Then you will finally encounter the group of gorillas and you will observe the silver back prominent gorillas taking care of their young ones, and other gorillas just socializing and feeding on the foliage leaves of the plants. This takes about 1 hour and later you will go back and visit and interact with the local community of the Batwa and share a meal with them. After all the interactions are done you will check into your safari lodge where you will spend a night and this will mark the end of our adventure
