Detailed Itinerary for the 5 days Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater Safari from Arusha

Day 1: Transfer to Tarangire National Park in Tanzania from Arusha.

Our guide will pick you up from Arusha Airport in Tanzania in the morning and then transfer you to Tarangire National Park. The journey is approximately 140 km, and you’ll travel for about 2 to 3 hours to get to Tarangire. The warthogs are the first wild animals in Tarangire National Park you set your eyes on as soon as you get there. So, spot them roaming freely in the green yard of the park’s entrance. Next, proceed through the bulk road of the national park and see one of the big five animals in Tanzania, the elephants moving in large herds to the nearby water pool.

On arriving at your Tarangire Sopa Lodge in the park, you will receive an organic refreshment. Later, then you will be taken to your cozy room that is surrounded by the wild plants and the gigantic trees. Proceed for dinner in the seating lounge of your safari lodge, prepared by the skilled chefs with the flavor of the indigenous ingredients. Take a nature walk around this Tanzania lodge in the evening and treat your eyes with the intriguing, bold landscapes of the African wilderness. Later, head back to your room for a refreshing rest.

Day 2: Explore the diverse ecosystems of Tarangire National Park during game drives.

Wake up to the beautiful songs of the birds and the whispers of the movement of the tree branches as you move out of your hotel room.  Next, head to the lounge dining area of Tarangire Sopa Lodge and be served breakfast. Later, board your 4×4 safari vehicle with your guide and head for morning game drive safari activities in Tarangire.

Your journey through the Tarangire National Park during game drives starts with the sight of the large herds of elephants roaming around the park. The Tarangire park is one of the parks in Africa with vast herds of elephants. Therefore, during your game drives, you will observe many of them on your way, with some just crossing past your safari vehicle in large groups. Have a lunch break at one of the seating areas in the park. So, you might see the baboons some coming for your food and others just hanging in trees.

Later, continue your game drive and see animals in Tarangire, including the fringe-eared Oryx, the zebras, and the ostriches moving with their necks stretched out in the air as they gently flap their wings. Also, Tarangire National Park is a habitat for the ancient baobab trees that have lived for nearly 3000 years. So, during your game drive,  your eyes will meet many of these unique things to see in Tanzania scattered in the landscape. Head back to your Tarangire Sopa Lodge and have your dinner and rest.

Day 3: Transfer from Tarangire to Ngorongoro Crater for a safari.

At 6:30 am, you will drive from Tarangire to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. So, the journey is about 130km long and takes approximately 3 to 4 hours to get to Ngorongoro. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest calderas in the world with a diverse ecosystem living in harmony with the Maasai people. So, it’s because the water and food support both the animals and the Maasai benefit from the permanent water holes and the fertile soils.

Reach the gates of Ngorongoro Conservation Area and then proceed through the sandy–like pathways. So, it’s because of the serenity of the environment that you can hear distant whispers of the wild. For example, the munching of the grass by the zebras feeding on the green pastures.

Reach the caldera and instantly spot the elegant pink flamingos as they feed on the algae at the shorelines. Also, see the rhinos and warthogs drinking the waters of the Ngorongoro Crater caldera. Lastly, spend the night at Octagon Lodge in Ngorongoro as you prepare for your trip to Serengeti the following day.

Day 4: Transfer to Serengeti National Park for a safari

On this day of your 5 days Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire safari, you will be transferred to the Serengeti. So, have breakfast in the morning as your safari vehicle awaits you outside in the parking yard. The distance by road from Ngorongoro to Serengeti is about 121 to 128km, depending on your starting and ending point. Therefore, sit tight for an adventurous 2 to 3-hour road trip through the busy towns of Tanzania. However, on the way to Serengeti NP, you will have different refreshment stops.

As you approach the gates of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, you’ll experience feelings of excitement. Additionally, you can now see some of the Tanzanian big five animals, like the lions, moving freely in the infinite grasslands. This Tanzania trip from Ngorongoro to Serengeti is usually exhausting.
